Original 1945-1949 Dutch KNIL visor cap

Original Dutch KNIL officer’s cap from the period 1945–1949, worn by officers of the Royal Netherlands East Indies Army (KNIL) during the post-war years in the Dutch East Indies.

The cap is made from light khaki cotton fabric, a color typical for tropical uniforms worn in the warm climate of the archipelago.

It features a classic officer’s design with a black band, a lacquered visor, and a leather chin strap secured with metal buttons. At the front is a beautiful gold embroidered KNIL insignia, depicting the characteristic Dutch lion within a laurel wreath, executed in gold-colored bullion thread on a black background.

The cap shows normal signs of use and light wear, including some wear to the sweatband and visor, consistent with its age and use in tropical conditions.

Originele 1945-1949 Nederlandse KNIL pet

Originele Nederlandse KNIL officierspet uit de periode 1945–1949, gedragen door officieren van het Koninklijk Nederlands-Indisch Leger (KNIL) tijdens de naoorlogse jaren in Nederlands-Indië.
Deze pet is uitgevoerd in een lichte khaki katoenen stof, een kleur die typerend is voor tropische uniformen die in het warme klimaat van de archipel werden gedragen.
De pet heeft een klassiek officiersmodel met een zwarte band, een gelakte klep en een leren kinriem bevestigd met metalen knopen.
Aan de voorzijde bevindt zich het fraaie goudkleurig geborduurde KNIL-embleem, bestaande uit de kenmerkende Nederlandse leeuw binnen een lauwerkrans, uitgevoerd in goudkleurig metaaldraad op een zwarte achtergrond.
De pet vertoont normale gebruikssporen en lichte slijtage aan onder andere de zweetband en klep, passend bij de leeftijd en het gebruik in tropische omstandigheden.
