Original WWII Dutch liberation poster Queen Wilhelmina

Beautiful original Dutch liberation poster from the Second World War, issued on the occasion of the liberation and featuring the official proclamation of Queen Wilhelmina. At the top is the Dutch coat of arms with the lions and crown, with below it in large letters “PROCLAMATIE” and the salutation “LANDGENOOTEN” (“Fellow countrymen”).
The text is the historic message in which Queen Wilhelmina addresses the Dutch people at the dawn of liberation.

In the proclamation she speaks about the moment for which she and the people have waited so long: the hour of liberation has arrived.
She acknowledges the severe trials and hardships the population has endured, cut off from part of the fatherland, and expresses her respect for the courage with which this period was borne.
At the same time, she calls for calm, unity, and discipline in the coming days, and asks people to follow the instructions of the Netherlands Military Authority and the Allied High Command, so that the transition to freedom can proceed in an orderly manner.

Furthermore, Queen Wilhelmina expresses her hope to soon return to Dutch soil and, together with her responsible advisers, to resume leadership of the affairs of the nation. The text concludes with the powerful and hopeful words: “May God’s blessing rest upon you all. The Netherlands rises again. Long live the Fatherland!”, followed by her signature: Wilhelmina.

The poster is framed in the national colors red, white, and blue and forms an impressive symbol of freedom, reconstruction, and national pride.

Prachtige originele Nederlandse bevrijdingsposter uit de Tweede Wereldoorlog, uitgegeven ter gelegenheid van de bevrijding en voorzien van de officiële proclamatie van Koningin Wilhelmina. Bovenaan prijkt het Nederlandse rijkswapen met de leeuwen en kroon, met daaronder in grote letters “PROCLAMATIE” en de aanhef “LANDGENOOTEN”. De tekst is de historische boodschap waarin Koningin Wilhelmina het Nederlandse volk toespreekt bij het aanbreken van de bevrijding. In de proclamatie spreekt zij over het moment waarop zij en het volk zo lang hebben gewacht: het uur van de bevrijding is aangebroken. Zij erkent de zware beproevingen en ontberingen die de bevolking heeft doorstaan, afgesneden van een deel van het vaderland, en betuigt respect voor de moed waarmee men deze periode heeft gedragen. Tegelijk roept zij op tot rust, eenheid en discipline in de komende dagen, en vraagt zij gehoor te geven aan de aanwijzingen van het Nederlands Militair Gezag en het Geallieerde Opperbevel, zodat de overgang naar vrijheid ordelijk kan verlopen. Verder spreekt Koningin Wilhelmina haar hoop uit om spoedig naar Nederlandse bodem terug te keren en samen met haar verantwoordelijke raadgevers de leiding van ’s lands zaken weer op zich te nemen. De tekst sluit af met de krachtige en hoopvolle woorden: “Dat Gods zegen op U allen ruste. Nederland herrijst. Leve het Vaderland!”, gevolgd door haar handtekening: Wilhelmina.
