German propaganda leaflet dropped over the Netherlands in May 1940 during the invasion, intended to discourage the Dutch population and induce submission.
The leaflet contains a proclamation written in Dutch, stating that the city has been surrounded, that further resistance is pointless, and that Germany is not fighting the Netherlands but England.
At the same time, protection of life and property is promised to “peace-loving citizens,” while any form of resistance is threatened with death.

Duitse propagandaflyer die in mei 1940 boven Nederland werd uitgeworpen tijdens de invasie, bedoeld om de Nederlandse bevolking te ontmoedigen en tot berusting aan te zetten. De flyer bevat een in het Nederlands gestelde bekendmaking waarin wordt verklaard dat de stad is omsingeld, dat verder verzet zinloos is en dat Duitsland niet tegen Nederland maar tegen Engeland zou strijden. Tegelijkertijd wordt bescherming van leven en eigendom beloofd aan “vredelievende burgers”, terwijl elke vorm van tegenstand met de dood wordt bedreigd.
