Original WWII Dutch Schalkhaar Politie cockade for ‘Kepie’ hat

This metal emblem has an oval shape with a red-white-blue cockade, bordered by a silver-colored edge.
It was worn by members of the notorious Schalkhaar Police training school, who during the German occupation of the Netherlands closely collaborated with the occupier.
The reverse shows the original attachment prongs, with which the cockade was affixed to the kepi.
The piece is in good, worn condition with light traces of use.
The Schalkhaar Police were known for their harsh actions against resistance groups and were often regarded by the population as collaborating, ruthless, and deployed during deportations of the Dutch Jews throughout the Second World War.

Originele WWII Nederlandse Schalkhaar Politie Kepie kokarde

Dit metalen embleem heeft een ovale vorm met rood-wit-blauwe kokarde, omrand met een zilverkleurige rand. Het werd gedragen door leden van de beruchte Schalkhaar Politie-opleidingsschool, die tijdens de Duitse bezetting in Nederland nauwe samenwerking met de bezetter kenden.
De achterzijde toont de originele bevestigingslippen, waarmee de kokarde op de kepie werd bevestigd.
Het stuk verkeert in een nette, gedragen staat met lichte gebruikssporen. De Schalkhaar-politie stond bekend om hun harde optreden tegen verzetsgroepen en werd door de bevolking vaak gezien als collaborerend, meedogenloos en werd ingezet tijdens Razzia’s gedurende de Tweede Wereldoorlog.
