Original WWII German Lineol FLAK 88 with searchlight, trailer and crew toy set

This rare German Lineol toy set, dating from around 1939–1945, consists of a detailed FLAK 88 anti-aircraft gun with transport trailer, searchlight, and three Wehrmacht figures.
The model represents a realistic field setup of a World War II anti-aircraft battery, finished in camouflage colors.
The cannon can be operated using the side control wheels, allowing the barrel to be raised or lowered.
Children could use this to simulate gun deployment or transport.
The German toy manufacturer Lineol was a prominent name in the field of military miniatures and figures during the first half of the twentieth century.
Especially in the 1930s and 1940s, during the era of the Third Reich and the Second World War, Lineol became a leading producer of realistic toy soldiers that not only stimulated children’s imagination, but also reflected the spirit of the times.
Lineol primarily used a composite material made from wood fiber and glue, which allowed them to produce sturdy and detailed figures.
The figures, usually about 7 cm tall, came in many varieties: soldiers in Wehrmacht uniforms, mounted cavalry, tanks, and even civilian figures such as farmers and policemen.
These scale models were often combined with wooden or metal vehicles and dioramas, allowing children to recreate full battlefields.
During the National Socialist period, the product range increasingly aligned with the regime’s ideology.
Many Lineol figures from this time feature recognizable symbols such as the swastika or SA uniforms, or are posed in heroic military stances.
In doing so, the toys whether consciously or not played a propagandistic role.
They supported the regime’s aim to foster youth loyalty and militarization, notably through organizations like the Hitler Youth.
After the war, production of this kind of military toy largely came to an end.

Originele WWII Duitse Lineol FLAK 88 speelgoed set met zoeklicht, trailer en soldaten

Deze zeldzame Duitse Lineol speelgoed set uit de periode rond 1939–1945, bestaande uit een gedetailleerd FLAK 88 luchtafweerkanon met transporttrailer, zoeklicht en drie Wehrmacht-figuren.
Dit speelgoedmodel toont een realistische veldopstelling van een luchtafweerbatterij uit de Tweede Wereldoorlog, uitgevoerd in camouflagekleuren. Het kanon is beweegbaar via de bedieningswielen aan de zijkant, waarmee de loop omhoog of omlaag gericht kan worden.
Kinderen konden hiermee het geschut in stelling brengen of transport naspelen.
De Duitse speelgoedfabrikant Lineol was in de eerste helft van de twintigste eeuw een prominente naam op het gebied van militaire miniaturen en figuren. Vooral in de jaren ‘30 en ‘40, rond de periode van het Derde Rijk en de Tweede Wereldoorlog, groeide Lineol uit tot een toonaangevende producent van realistisch uitgevoerd speelgoed dat niet alleen de fantasie van kinderen prikkelde, maar ook de geest van de tijd weerspiegelde.
Lineol maakte voornamelijk gebruik van een composietmateriaal bestaande uit houtvezel en lijm, waarmee zij stevige en gedetailleerde figuren konden vervaardigen.
De figuren, meestal ongeveer 7 cm hoog, waren handbeschilderd en kwamen in allerlei varianten: soldaten in Wehrmacht-uniform, ruiters te paard, tanks, en zelfs civiele figuren zoals boeren en politieagenten.
Deze schaalmodellen werden vaak gebruikt in combinatie met houten of metalen voertuigen en diorama’s, waarmee kinderen hele slagvelden konden naspelen.
In de jaren van het nationaalsocialisme werd het assortiment steeds duidelijker afgestemd op de ideologie van het regime.
Veel Lineol-figuren uit deze periode dragen herkenbare symbolen zoals het hakenkruis, SA-uniformen of worden voorgesteld in heroïsche militaire poses.
Daarmee vervulde het speelgoed bewust of onbewust een propagandistische rol.
Het sloot aan bij het streven van het regime om jeugdige loyaliteit en militarisering te stimuleren, onder andere via organisaties als de Hitlerjugend.
Na de oorlog kwam de productie van dit soort militair speelgoed grotendeels stil te liggen.
