Amsterdam, 29 November 1943
Today, the leader of the National Socialist Movement of the Netherlands, Mussert, visited the exhibition “The Youth Hostel of Tomorrow”.
During the tour of the exhibition, the leader viewed the model of one of the prizewinners. To the left of the leader is Dr. Schröder, representative of the Reich Commissioner; on the far right is the deputy leader of the NSB, Van Geelkerken.

Anton Mussert 

Anton Mussert (1894–1946) was the founder and leader of the National Socialist Movement (NSB), the Dutch fascist party active during the 1930s and World War II.
Originally an engineer, Mussert worked for the Dutch Department of Public Works before founding the NSB in 1931, inspired by Italian fascism and German National Socialism.
During the German occupation of the Netherlands, Mussert collaborated with the Nazis, although he never gained real political power.
The German occupiers saw him as a puppet and gave actual authority to the SS and other German agencies.
After the liberation in 1945, Mussert was arrested, tried for treason, and executed in 1946 on the Waalsdorpervlakte.

Vandaag bezocht de leider van de Nationaal-Socialistische Beweging der Nederlanden, Mussert, de tentoonstelling “De jeugdherberg van morgen”.
Tijdens de rondgang door deze tentoonstelling bekijkt de leider het schaalmodel van een van de prijswinnaars. Links van de leider staat Dr. Schröder, vertegenwoordiger van de Rijkscommissaris; helemaal rechts de plaatsvervangend leider van de NSB, Van Geelkerken.

Anton Mussert

Anton Mussert (1894–1946) was de oprichter en leider van de Nationaal-Socialistische Beweging (NSB), de Nederlandse fascistische partij die tijdens de jaren dertig en de Tweede Wereldoorlog actief was.
Mussert was oorspronkelijk ingenieur en werkte bij Rijkswaterstaat voordat hij in 1931 de NSB oprichtte, geïnspireerd door het Italiaanse fascisme en het Duitse nationaalsocialisme.
Tijdens de Duitse bezetting van Nederland werkte Mussert samen met de nazi’s, hoewel hij nooit daadwerkelijk veel politieke macht kreeg. De Duitse bezetter beschouwde hem als een marionet en gaf de echte macht aan de SS en andere Duitse instanties. Na de bevrijding in 1945 werd Mussert gearresteerd, berecht wegens landverraad en in 1946 geëxecuteerd op de Waalsdorpervlakte.
