Anton Mussert

Anton Mussert (1894–1946) was the founder and leader of the National Socialist Movement in the Netherlands (NSB), a fascist party established in 1931.
Initially, the NSB gained some support, but its popularity declined as its alignment with Germany became more evident.
During the German occupation of the Netherlands in World War II, Mussert collaborated with the Nazis and was appointed by Hitler in December 1942 as the “Leader of the Dutch People” (Leider van het Nederlandse Volk), a title that held little actual power.
After the liberation of the Netherlands, Mussert was arrested on 7 May 1945 in The Hague. He was tried for high treason, convicted, and executed by firing squad on 7 May 1946 at the Waalsdorpervlakte near The Hague.

Anton Mussert (1894–1946)

Anton Mussert was de oprichter en leider van de Nationaal-Socialistische Beweging (NSB), een fascistische partij die in 1931 in Nederland werd opgericht.
Aanvankelijk trok de NSB enige aanhang, maar die nam af toen de partij zich steeds duidelijker aan Duitsland verbond.
Tijdens de Duitse bezetting werkte Mussert actief samen met de bezetter.
In 1942 werd hij door Hitler benoemd tot “Leider van het Nederlandse Volk”, een titel zonder echte macht.
Na de bevrijding werd Mussert gearresteerd, berecht voor landverraad en op 7 mei 1946 geëxecuteerd op de Waalsdorpervlakte bij Den Haag.
