The grouping is in good condition and belonged to the Russian Airforce pilot and squadron commander Shepetov Nikolai Ivanovich.
He participated in 1939 and 1940 in the Soviet-Finnish war.
He flew in the 38th IAP and had the position of deputy squadron commander and flew in an I-153 aircraft.
During the air battles he personally shot down two enemy airplanes.
From June 1941, Senior Lieutenant Shepetov was the squadron commander of the same 38th Fighter Aviation Regiment and fought with them during the invasion of Russia on the North-Western Front.
He flew in an I-153 and a LaGG-3 aircraft.
He completed 11 combat missions, shot down 4 enemy airplanes personally and 6 in a group in air battles.
From March 1942 he served in the training units of the Red Army Air Force.
In January 1945 Nikolai became the Major and deputy commander for flight training of the 1st Reserve Aviation Regiment (Airforce of the Moscow military district).
The grouping contains his Airforce ‘Budenovka’ winter hat, a photo of him in 1935, flight log books (1941/1945/1951), certificate with postwar flight wing.
The budenovka is not the same as he is wearing on the photo but all the items came originally from his family, he probably replaced his headgear after 1935.
A very rare Russian Airforce grouping for the militaria or World War II collection!
