Major General Robert Henry Eric Briggs was a British Army officer who served in World War II.
He was born on March 6, 1896, and died on February 25, 1981.
During World War II, Briggs commanded the 53rd (Welsh) Infantry Division, which saw action in North Africa and Italy.
He was also involved in the planning and execution of the D-Day landings in Normandy in June 1944, serving as the commander of the 3rd Infantry Division during the early stages of the campaign.
After the war, Briggs continued to serve in the British Army, eventually rising to the rank of Lieutenant General.

Generaal-majoor Robert Henry Eric Briggs was een Britse legerofficier die diende in de Tweede Wereldoorlog.
Hij werd geboren op 6 maart 1896 en stierf op 25 februari 1981.
Tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog voerde Briggs het bevel over de 53ste (Welsh) Infantry Division, die in actie kwam in Noord-Afrika en Italië. Hij was ook betrokken bij de planning en uitvoering van de landingen op D-Day in Normandië in juni 1944 en diende als commandant van de 3e Infanteriedivisie tijdens de eerste fasen van de campagne.
Na de oorlog bleef Briggs in dienst van het Britse leger en klom uiteindelijk op tot de rang van luitenant-generaal.
